Paphos Criminal Court delivers verdicts in two sexual assault cases

The Paphos Criminal Court has concluded two separate sexual offense trials. In the first case, a 45-year-old Paphos resident was sentenced to seven years in prison for the sexual abuse of his partner's 14-year-old daughter. The defendant confessed to the crime following his arrest. The Attorney General has subsequently filed an appeal, citing that the sentence is too lenient. In the second case, a 46-year-old man was convicted of raping a 63-year-old woman. The incident occurred in 2023 after the victim hired the man for professional repair work at her home. The trial was held in camera to protect the victim's identity. The court has remanded the 46-year-old in custody, with his sentencing scheduled for July 21.
