Kourion archaeological museum to close for renovation

The Department of Antiquities of Cyprus has announced the temporary closure of the Kourion archaeological museum in Episkopi, effective August 1. The facility will undergo a comprehensive renovation project designed to modernize both its exhibition areas and operational infrastructure. Key objectives of the project include enhancing the physical security and climate control systems to better preserve the collection of artifacts, which dates from the Neolithic to the early Christian period. The upgrade also focuses on improving accessibility for individuals with mobility impairments and redesigning the exhibition layout. While the Department of Antiquities has confirmed the closure date, it has not provided a specific timeline for the completion of works. A reopening date will be announced by the department once the project reaches its final stages. Officials have apologized to the public for the temporary inconvenience caused by the closure.
