Cyprus defense ministry and employers federation sign emergency cooperation agreement

On Thursday, the Cyprus Ministry of Defense and the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen national preparedness for crises. The agreement was signed by Minister of Defense Vassilis Palmas and OEB President George Pantelidis. It establishes a formal cooperation framework between the OEB and the Central Service for Civil Emergency Planning (KYPSEA). The primary goal is to coordinate public and private sector efforts to ensure the continuity of vital state services and critical private businesses during emergencies. The memorandum includes provisions for staff training, the implementation of KYPSEA plans, and the conduct of joint studies and research. Minister Palmas noted that this cooperation is essential due to the rise of hybrid threats affecting critical infrastructure, the economy, supply chains, and social cohesion. The pact aims to enhance national resilience and support security forces in managing complex defense and security challenges.
