Power outages reported across Cyprus following Vasilikos station technical failure

On Friday at 20:10, a technical failure occurred at the Vasilikos Power Station, leading to the loss of Production Unit AT/S 1. This unit was operating at a load of 60 MW at the time of the incident. The failure resulted in load shedding and power supply disruptions across various regions of Cyprus. The Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSM Kyprou) confirmed the event and stated that restoration efforts were underway immediately. The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (AHK) also issued automated alerts to customers regarding the island-wide disruptions. Authorities initially expected full restoration of power to be completed within 20 minutes of the incident. No further long-term damages or structural issues have been reported by the energy authorities.
