Two suspects arrested in Larnaca for attempted bank and jewelry store robberies
Police in Larnaca have arrested two men, aged 41 and 33, in connection with two attempted robberies. The suspects were initially detained following an attempted armed robbery at a jewelry store in central Larnaca on July 6, during which the 73-year-old owner was assaulted and injured. Investigations led police to link the pair to a prior attempted bank robbery in Kiti that occurred on June 19. In the bank incident, two masked suspects arrived in a blue saloon car, but fled empty-handed after security doors failed to open. The suspects are facing multiple charges, including conspiracy, attempted robbery, and illegal possession of firearms. Police also discovered evidence of stolen vehicle use and possession of burglary tools during the arrests. Authorities are continuing to investigate potential involvement in other similar crimes in the region.
