China conducts first controlled recovery of a Long March-10B rocket stage

China has successfully launched the Long March-10B carrier rocket from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site. This mission marked the maiden flight of the vehicle, which successfully deployed its payload into the intended orbit. Following stage separation, the first stage performed a controlled return to a sea-based platform using a net-capture system. The Long March-10B is a liquid-fueled reusable commercial launch vehicle measuring 63 meters in height with a 5-meter diameter. It features a liftoff thrust of approximately 890 tons and a launch mass of 760 tons, with a low Earth orbit payload capacity of 16 tons. While some reports describe the event as a vertical landing, official statements specify a recovery using a net-capture system on a maritime platform. This development represents a significant advancement in China's reusable rocket technology.
