Lithuanian real estate agent appeals extradition to Cyprus
A 53-year-old Lithuanian real estate agent, arrested at Nice airport in France, has filed an appeal against her extradition to the Republic of Cyprus. The arrest was executed based on a European arrest warrant issued by Cyprus authorities in connection to an investigation into the alleged illegal exploitation of Greek-Cypriot properties in the northern part of the island. According to reports, the woman lives and works in the northern territories, a detail initially surfaced via the Turkish-Cypriot newspaper Kibris. She was detained while attempting to travel with her daughter. French authorities are now tasked with reviewing the extradition appeal. The legal proceedings are currently ongoing and are expected to last between two weeks and one month. Her legal challenge suspends the immediate implementation of the extradition warrant pending the court's final decision.
