Leaders of the coalition of the willing meet in Paris to discuss Ukraine support
On July 11, 2026, over 25 heads of state and government, including Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, gathered in Paris for a meeting of the 'coalition of the willing.' Hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron at the Hôtel des Invalides, the summit aims to strengthen support for Ukraine, enhance air defense capabilities, and prepare for potential peace negotiations. According to French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, the agenda includes a proposed 21st package of European sanctions against Russia and the establishment of long-term security guarantees, which may include the deployment of ground troops following a peace agreement. The coalition, comprising approximately 35 nations, focuses on increasing pressure on Moscow and fostering transatlantic unity. Officials noted a shift in US policy, with President Donald Trump expressing increased support for Ukraine during recent G7 and NATO meetings. Following the summit, the leaders will participate in events surrounding the July 14th military parade on the Champs-Élysées, which will feature themes of support for Ukraine.
