Authorities seize 24 kilograms of cannabinoid products at Larnaca Airport

On July 9, 2026, customs officers and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) at Larnaca Airport conducted a coordinated inspection of courier parcels arriving from another European Union member state. Two packages, declared as "souvenirs" and bearing suspicious sender and recipient information, were intercepted. Upon inspection, authorities discovered approximately 1,600 items weighing a total of 24 kilograms, including coffee, tea, gummies, electronic cigarettes, and filters, all containing cannabis or synthetic cannabinoids. Following the seizure, police arrested a 31-year-old man in Limassol identified as the alleged recipient, along with a 23-year-old female employee at his business premises. A subsequent search of the business location led to the discovery and seizure of additional quantities of cannabinoid products. The investigation is currently being handled by the Limassol division of YKAN.
