President Christodoulides to attend Bastille Day celebrations in Paris

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides is traveling to Paris on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron. On Tuesday, July 14, he will attend the Bastille Day military parade on the Champs-Élysées. The delegation includes the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, and Deputy Government Spokesman Giannis Antoniou. A 20-member detachment from the Cypriot National Guard, consisting of 18 officers and non-commissioned officers plus two reserves, will participate in the military parade as part of bilateral defense cooperation. This marks the largest participation of the Cypriot National Guard in a foreign national day parade, following smaller symbolic participations in France in 2008 and Poland in 2019. During his visit, President Christodoulides is scheduled to meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and other international leaders. He is expected to return to Cyprus late on Tuesday evening.
