Isaac-Solomou memorial motorcyclists arrive in Karavas, Kythera
On 10 July 2026, motorcyclists participating in the Isaac-Solomou Memory Initiative arrived in Karavas, Kythera, as part of a journey marking the 30th anniversary of the deaths of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou. The group visited the local Monument to the Unknown Soldier and held a ceremony at the Centre for Culture, Tradition and Contemporary Art, which preserves the heritage of the Turkish-occupied Karavas in Kyrenia, Cyprus. During the event, a commemorative sign for the 'Road of Virtue' and 'Isaac-Solomou Street' was unveiled. The ceremony featured speeches by Kythera Deputy Mayor Georgios Komninos and Karavas community president Zacharias Souris. Former Karavas Mayor Yiannis Papaioannou also attended the event. Participants highlighted historical links between the two communities, referencing a tradition involving Greek revolutionary captain Konstantinos Kanaris. This stop follows previous events held in Ano Keryneia, Achaia, and Elos, Laconia. The initiative serves to maintain historical memory and connect communities through commemorative activities.
