AC Hotels reports high theft rate of hotel items by guests
Antonio Catalán, founder and president of the AC Hotels chain, recently discussed the recurring issue of hotel property theft during an episode of the Nude Project podcast. Catalán revealed that towels are the most frequently stolen items from the company's rooms. According to his data, more than 80,000 towels are taken by guests annually. This figure is particularly significant given that the chain operates 91 properties in Spain, with additional incidents reported at their locations in Italy. Catalán noted that many of these towels feature the company logo, making them easily identifiable. Beyond towels, guests also frequently remove smaller items such as toiletries, slippers, and decorative objects. The hotelier highlighted that these unauthorized removals represent both a financial loss and an operational challenge for the hospitality business.
