UK woman claims lottery jackpot after ticket was discarded
Cath Mae, a 46-year-old woman from Aberkenfig, Wales, claims to have won a £12 million (approximately €14 million) jackpot in the UK National Lottery. She asserts that she has played the same set of numbers—08, 10, 26, 30, 35, and 42—for twenty years. Following the June 6 draw, Mae realized her numbers matched the unclaimed winning combination reported in the media. However, when her mother previously attempted to check the ticket at a retail store, a verification machine indicated it was not a winner, leading the store clerk to discard the ticket into the trash. The refuse was subsequently collected by a municipal garbage truck. Mae has since contacted Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, to report the situation and provide proof of purchase. The company is currently investigating the case, which remains disputed as the official system has no record of the win.
