Tourist injured during the San Fermin bull run in Pamplona
On Saturday, a tourist sustained a severe facial injury after being gored in the cheek by a bull during the fifth bull run of the San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain. Reports indicate that at least 12 people required medical attention for various injuries, with accounts varying between nine and 12 total injured persons. The event, which featured six bulls running through narrow streets for approximately two and a half minutes, involved many participants falling on the cobblestone paths. While one black bull was observed separating from the group and striking a runner, it remains unconfirmed if this was the source of the most serious injury. The bulls were later killed in the arena by matadors. This year marks the centennial of Ernest Hemingway's novel 'The Sun Also Rises,' which popularized the event. Although no deaths have occurred at the festival since 2009, injuries such as gorings and fractures remain common due to the high number of inexperienced participants.
