Garbage truck driver denies role in fatal Thessaloniki accident
A 48-year-old garbage truck driver is being investigated following a fatal accident in Thessaloniki that resulted in the death of 15-year-old Anna-Maria, a youth player for PAOK. The driver claims he did not collide with any vehicle and was unaware of the incident until his wife informed him that his employer was searching for him due to GPS data indicating his presence at the scene. He subsequently reported to the Thessaloniki Traffic Police sub-directorate to provide a blood sample for alcohol testing. The victim's father has publicly expressed doubts, questioning whether the individual who submitted the blood sample is the same person who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Authorities expect that surveillance footage from cameras located at the site will provide definitive evidence regarding the collision and the driver's movements. Currently, the investigation is ongoing to reconcile the conflicting accounts and technical data.
