Investigation continues following fatal fall of three-year-old in Paphos
A three-year-old British boy died after falling from the fourth floor of a hotel in Paphos, Cyprus. Local police have placed the 37-year-old father under an eight-day remand order as part of an investigation into potential charges, including negligent act and failure to fulfill duties as a parent. Authorities confirmed that toxicology tests performed on the father yielded negative results. While the public has questioned the necessity of the father's detention given his bereavement, criminal lawyer Andreas Christou stated that Cypriot law provides no exceptions to standard detention procedures based on a suspect's psychological state. The hotel manager, Evripidis Loizidis, stated that the facility meets all safety regulations, noting that the window railing height exceeds the legal minimum of 1.1 meters. Once the investigation concludes, the case file will be forwarded to the Legal Service for further instructions.
