Three-year-old British tourist dies after falling from Paphos hotel window

A three-year-old British boy died on Sunday, July 12, after falling from the fourth-floor corridor window of a hotel in Chloraka, Paphos. The family, who had arrived for their holiday at dawn the same day, was heading to dinner at approximately 6:00 PM when the accident occurred. According to police, the child was being held by his 37-year-old father, who was playing with him near an open window before the boy slipped and fell to the hotel's first-floor veranda. The child's grandfather witnessed the tragic incident. The father was arrested late Sunday night and appeared before the Paphos District Court on Monday. He faces charges including causing death through reckless, careless, or dangerous acts, and failure of duty as a guardian. During the court proceeding, the father appeared without legal representation and broke down in tears, leading to a brief suspension of the hearing. He did not contest the police request for an eight-day detention period, which the court granted. A post-mortem examination is being conducted at Nicosia General Hospital by forensic pathologists Aggeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou.
