Religious commemoration on July 12
On Sunday, July 12, the Church commemorates Saint Paisios the Athonite, Saint Veronica, and Saints Proklos and Ilarion. Saint Paisios, born Arsenios Eznepidis on July 25, 1924, in Farasa, Cappadocia, is the primary figure honored. He moved to Konitsa as a child and worked as a carpenter before serving as a radio operator in the military from 1945 to 1949. Known as the 'radio operator of God,' he entered monastic life in 1953 on Mount Athos. He was tonsured at the Esphigmenou Monastery under the name Aberkios in 1954 and received the Great Schema at the Filotheou Monastery in 1956. The day also serves as a name day for those named Paisios, Veronica, Vera, Proklos, and Ilarion.
