Fire reported at the former Badminton Theater building in Goudi Park

On the evening of July 13, a fire broke out at the abandoned Badminton Theater building within the Metropolitan Park of Goudi in Athens. Emergency services were alerted, and a 112 emergency notification was issued to local residents, advising them to stay indoors and close windows due to heavy smoke. By 9:30 PM, the fire was contained within the structure, preventing further spread to the surrounding park area. A section of the building's roof collapsed during the incident, and the fire was declared under control by 1:00 AM. Firefighting efforts involved 38 firefighters, 10 water tenders, two ladder trucks, one specialized vehicle for respiratory equipment, and six support vehicles. Additional support was provided by volunteer groups and water tankers from the municipalities of Athens, Zografou, and Papagou-Holarou. Witnesses reported observing dense black smoke and intense flames on the upper floors of the derelict facility, noting that no explosion occurred. While initial reports cited 28 firefighters and 9 vehicles, the final mobilization was larger.
