46-year-old woman arrested in London in connection with 2010 Marfin bank arson

A 46-year-old Greek woman residing in Brighton for the past six years was arrested at Gatwick Airport in London on Monday, July 13. The arrest was executed by the UK's National Extradition Unit following an Interpol Red Notice issued by Greek authorities on July 11. She is accused of involvement in the 2010 arson attack on the Marfin bank branch in Athens, an incident that resulted in three deaths. While official sources confirm the extradition proceedings, reports suggest the suspect had previously contacted Greek authorities to declare her innocence and express her intention to return to Greece to testify. The suspect is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, July 14, to begin the extradition process. Authorities are also investigating photographic evidence analyzed through artificial intelligence to link suspects to the crime. Meanwhile, two other 42-year-old suspects have already been detained in Greece and are facing charges of intentional manslaughter.
