Russian FSB reports prevention of drone attacks on airbases
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it has thwarted attempts by Ukrainian intelligence to conduct large-scale drone attacks on two military airbases. The targeted facilities were identified as the Shagol base in the Ural region and the Ukrainka base in the Russian Far East. According to the state news agency TASS, the security service confirmed that the perpetrators involved in these plots have been apprehended. Officials stated that the operation utilized balloons and drones to transport equipment into the Bryansk region for subsequent delivery to the targets. This reported activity is being compared to a 2025 incident involving strikes on Russian airbases, including Ukrainka, during which approximately 10 Russian aircraft were reportedly destroyed according to United States intelligence estimates. The Ukrainian government has not issued an official response to these specific allegations from the FSB.
