Biopic film Michael reaches one billion dollars at the global box office
The biographical film Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, has surpassed 1 billion dollars in global box office earnings after 12 weeks of release. This achievement marks the first time a Lionsgate production has reached this milestone, surpassing the studio's previous record held by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which grossed 865.2 million dollars. Michael is the second film of 2026 to achieve this feat, following the success of Super Mario Galaxy. Domestic earnings in the United States account for 371.8 million dollars, while international markets contributed 629.8 million dollars, including 35.75 million dollars from Japan. The production also saw notable revenue contributions from the Russian market during its final run. Additionally, the film is now the most commercially successful work for both director Antoine Fuqua and producer Graham King, outperforming their previous career-best projects, King Arthur and Bohemian Rhapsody respectively.
