Cypriot delegation arrives in Rieti for the European U18 Athletics Championships

The Cypriot athletics delegation arrived in Rieti, Italy, on July 14, 2026, to participate in the 5th European U18 Athletics Championships. The event is scheduled to take place from July 16 to July 19, 2026, featuring over 1,100 young athletes from across Europe. Dora Kyriakou leads the 11-member Cypriot team, which is supported by coaches Konstantinos Stavrou, Giannos Apostolidis, Michalis Charalambous, and Alexandros Stavridis, along with physiotherapist Christos Mitas. The athletes representing Cyprus include Andreas Nektarios Votsis (400m), Renos Komodromos (800m), Andreas Savva (110m hurdles), Anastasios Maratheftis (hammer throw), Achilleas Grigoriou (hammer throw), Katerina Karagianni (100m, 200m), Stefania Simou Kyriazi (100m), Nikoletta Georgiadou (400m), Marina Hatzikosta (discus throw), Anthi Apostolidou (hammer throw), and Rafaella Savva (hammer throw). The European Athletics Association established this championship in 2016 for athletes aged 16 and 17 to foster early competitive experience. Participation is restricted to a maximum of two athletes per country per event to manage logistical demands and ensure high competitive standards.
