Four-year-old child in critical condition after pool accident in Kastoria
A four-year-old boy is currently hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit of the Hippokrateio Hospital in Thessaloniki. The incident occurred in Kastoria when the child, who was visiting from Russia with his mother, fell into a swimming pool at his grandfather's residence. The child went unnoticed for a period before being retrieved from the bottom of the pool by his grandfather in an unconscious state. Paramedics transported him to the General Hospital of Kastoria, where medical staff performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and successfully restored his heartbeat. Following intubation, the child was transported to Thessaloniki under police escort, arriving at the hospital around 22:00. Sources provide slightly varying descriptions of the child's status, with some reporting the condition as critical and others as critical but stable. Doctors are currently conducting examinations to assess his brain function and the overall reaction of his body to the incident.
