Snake handler records rare footage of vipers in Cyprus

Cypriot snake handler Giannis Aggeli recently documented a rare encounter with four Cypriot vipers, locally known as 'fines', gathering in a stream. He noted that the snakes were likely seeking relief from high ambient temperatures in the water, behavior consistent with their known ability to swim. One of the vipers was observed molting its skin while submerged. In a separate incident, residents in Cyprus encountered a viper near their home, leading to a man removing the animal with a tool to ensure safety. Experts emphasize that while these snakes are part of the local ecosystem, public interaction with them is dangerous. Giannis Aggeli explicitly warned the public not to attempt to handle or approach wild snakes without professional training. He confirmed that his own observations were conducted with respect for the wildlife's natural environment.
