Six SYRIZA officials resign from party bodies

Six officials, including Deputy Secretary Anastasia Sapouna, resigned from the Political Secretariat and the Central Committee of the SYRIZA-PS party. The other resigning members are Gely Visviki, Despoina Sinou, Panos Stachtos-Lamprinidis, Eleni Symeonidou, and Stamatia Tsoumea. The resignations were submitted at the beginning of a scheduled meeting of the party body. In their joint resignation letter, the officials cited a cycle of internal discord and disrespectful behavior within the party. They specifically accused central leadership figures of manipulating the party statute to overturn a decision made on June 6. The departing members argued that these actions undermine the party's democratic processes and its values. They also expressed concern that such internal conflicts distract from the party's objective of providing a progressive alternative in upcoming elections.
