Nicosia municipality joins European digital twin project

The Municipality of Nicosia has become a primary partner in the 18-month European project titled Municipal, which is funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe program. The project, operating under the LDT4SSC initiative for smart and sustainable communities, has a total budget of nearly 2 million euros. The inaugural meeting took place in Murcia, Spain, involving seven organizations from Cyprus, Greece, Denmark, and Spain. Key participants include the Municipality of Nicosia, the Municipality of Murcia, Ubitech, the Technical University of Denmark, and Ai-nergy. The project aims to create a European federation of interoperable digital twins to enable secure data exchange between public authorities. The collaborative effort focuses on developing smart services in areas including mobility, energy efficiency, urban planning, and resource management. By linking digital twins, the consortium seeks to improve data-driven decision-making processes for local governments.
