UN official reports Hamas interference with humanitarian aid in Gaza
Ramiz Alakbarov, the UN deputy special coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, has accused authorities in Gaza affiliated with Hamas of obstructing humanitarian operations. According to a UN statement, armed individuals linked to Hamas entered a food distribution point in Jabalia in northern Gaza last Saturday. Following this, they reportedly accessed a warehouse belonging to the World Food Programme and assaulted two truck drivers involved in aid delivery. Alakbarov stated that these events are part of a growing pattern of intimidation, violence, and attempts to divert humanitarian resources. He warned that such actions endanger staff and undermine the delivery of essential supplies to civilians in need. The UN official called on all parties to ensure the safe and unobstructed functioning of humanitarian missions throughout the region.
