Police in Limassol investigate 135,000 euro cryptocurrency investment fraud
The Cyprus Police in the Limassol district are investigating a cyber fraud case involving a 60-year-old woman. In June, the victim received an email disguised as a message from an online bank, promoting high-yield cryptocurrency investment opportunities. After contacting the sender, she followed instructions to register on a crypto trading platform and created a digital wallet. She subsequently transferred 135,000 euros from her Cypriot bank account to this platform. The victim later discovered that the funds had been unauthorizedly moved to various crypto wallets beyond her control. The case is currently being handled by the Economic Crime Investigation Office of the Limassol Criminal Investigation Department. Authorities have advised the public to exercise caution and only conduct investments through recognized companies and certified financial advisors.
