ICE agent fatally shoots man in Maine

On Monday, an agent from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fatally shot a man in Biddeford, Maine. Human rights organizations identified the victim as a 26-year-old Colombian national. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the victim was an undocumented immigrant with a final deportation order who attempted to flee during an operation. The Maine Attorney General’s Office stated the vehicle was driven toward the agent, prompting the use of lethal force. This incident follows a similar shooting of a Mexican man by an ICE agent in Texas a week prior. The involved agent has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with standard protocol. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has launched an official investigation into the shooting. Maine state authorities, including the State Police, are currently collecting evidence at the scene.
