ICE agent kills man during operation in Biddeford, Maine
On Monday, an agent from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shot and killed a man in Biddeford, Maine. Human rights organizations identified the deceased as a 26-year-old Colombian national. According to the Department of Homeland Security, the victim was an undocumented immigrant with a final deportation order who attempted to flee from a vehicle stop. The office of the Maine Attorney General stated that the victim's vehicle moved toward the agent, who subsequently opened fire. The agent involved has been placed on administrative leave following standard protocol. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is currently conducting an investigation into the incident. This event follows a similar fatal shooting of a Mexican man by an ICE agent in Texas one week prior. State House Speaker Ryan Fecteau confirmed that state police and public safety officials are gathering evidence at the scene.
