37-year-old man dies following rock entrapment incident at Cape Greco

A 37-year-old Greek Cypriot man passed away at the Famagusta General Hospital on July 13, 2026. The individual had been found trapped in rocks at the Konnos area in Cape Greco on Sunday, July 12. Local firefighters performed a rescue operation to extract him from the site. Following his rescue, the man was transported by ambulance to the Intensive Care Unit of the Famagusta General Hospital. He remained under medical care in critical condition until his death, which occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Police confirmed the fatality and announced that an official autopsy is scheduled for July 14 to determine the exact cause of death.
