British base administrations in Cyprus upgrade enforcement equipment
The British base administrations at Dhekelia and Akrotiri have deployed four new patrol vehicles for law enforcement and regulatory monitoring. In addition to the vehicles, enforcement officers have been equipped with body cameras, digital cameras, and new uniforms. Civil Administrator of Akrotiri, George Kiteos, stated that this equipment is intended to enhance operational capabilities. The primary focus of these upgrades is the identification and management of administrative and environmental violations. Specific areas of concern include illegal developments, unauthorized construction projects, and activities that negatively impact protected beaches. The administration emphasized that these measures are part of a broader commitment to transparent and professional law enforcement. The stated goals for the initiative are to ensure public safety, environmental protection, and consistent application of regulations within the base territories.
