Four individuals arrested in connection with the fatal arson attack in Thessaloniki

Greek authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with the July 1 arson attack at a residence in Thessaloniki, which resulted in the death of Vaya Nestora and left four others injured. A 25-year-old man was the most recent arrest in the Ano Poli district, following the earlier detention of a 29-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman, and a 24-year-old man. The 29-year-old and 26-year-old are accused of being the physical perpetrators, while the 24-year-old is alleged to have provided a hideout. Evidence, including a discarded umbrella and mobile phone data, led to the identification of the suspects, who were captured by security cameras despite attempts to hide their faces. Criminal charges have been filed, including homicide with eventual malice, participation in a terrorist organization, explosion, and arson. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to look into other arson attacks that occurred in Thessaloniki on the same date. The detained individuals are currently facing the investigating magistrate regarding their roles in the incident.
