SBA Administration upgrades enforcement capabilities in Dhekelia and Akrotiri

The Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) Administration has deployed four new patrol vehicles for its civil enforcement wardens in Dhekelia and Akrotiri. The units are now operational and intended to increase the presence of law enforcement within local communities. Alongside the vehicles, officers have been issued new equipment, including body-worn cameras, digital cameras, and protective vests. According to Akrotiri Area Officer George Kiteos and Dhekelia Area Officer Maria Pieri-Kyriakidou, this initiative is designed to improve the monitoring of administrative and environmental violations. Specific areas of focus include illegal construction, unauthorized structures, and activities that negatively impact protected beaches. The administration stated that the primary objective is to balance legal enforcement with public safety and environmental protection. Officials emphasized that these upgrades are part of a broader commitment to transparent and professional conduct in the administration of the territories.
