Cypriot travel trends for the summer season
Cypriot travel patterns for the upcoming summer season show that Greece remains the most popular destination, followed by European countries such as Italy and France. Honorary President of the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents, Akis Kelepesis, noted that while preferences are largely consistent with previous years, rising inflation and the cost of living are forcing many travelers to plan budgets more carefully. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have also impacted long-haul travel by reducing available flight routes. Despite economic concerns, tourism experts anticipate that between 370,000 and 480,000 Cypriots will travel abroad this summer. Cruises, particularly those departing from Piraeus and Rome, have experienced a notable rise in popularity. Some reports also indicate a growing interest in long-haul destinations, including the Far East, the United States, Japan, and countries in Eastern Europe like Poland. While some sources emphasize cost-cutting and a potential shift toward domestic tourism, travel industry representatives suggest that European city breaks and Mediterranean cruises remain top priorities.
