Ministry of Health issues heatwave protection guidelines
The Ministry of Health has issued official guidelines for public protection during heatwaves, particularly when temperatures exceed 40°C. Citizens are advised to monitor daily forecasts from the Meteorological Department and remain in cool, air-conditioned, or shaded environments. Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided, especially between 11:00 and 17:00. The ministry recommends wearing light-colored clothing, using sun protection, and maintaining hydration with fluids regardless of thirst. Dietary adjustments include frequent light meals rich in fruits and vegetables, while limiting caffeine and alcohol intake. Physical exercise or strenuous labor during peak heat hours is discouraged. Furthermore, the public is urged to maintain regular contact with vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly or those living alone. Special attention must be given to the protection of infants and young children from high temperatures.
