EDEK sets dates for constitutional and electoral conferences
The EDEK party's five-member Committee for Conferences and Registry Reform has officially set the dates for its upcoming internal processes. The Constitutional Congress is scheduled for October 11, 2026, followed by the Electoral Congress on December 13, 2026. This decision follows an Extraordinary Pancyprian Conference held on July 5, which adopted a proposal by EDEK Youth to prioritize the constitutional changes over elections. The committee, consisting of Nikos Anastasiou, Nikos Nikolaidis, Diomidis Diomidous, Michalis Koutalianos, and Pavlos Michael, held its inaugural meeting on July 9. The committee is tasked with cleansing the party's membership registry and coordinating member participation in the constitutional reform process. Additionally, EDEK leader Nikos Anastasiou announced his resignation from party leadership, citing an inability to foster internal party unity. The committee has committed to transparency throughout these proceedings by maintaining regular communication with party members.
