Upgrades planned for Kato Paphos harbor
The Municipality of Paphos and the Cyprus Ports Authority met to discuss strategic upgrades for the Kato Paphos harbor. Key proposals include extending the harbor entrance and the breakwater behind the Medieval Castle to protect the monument and infrastructure. The plan includes the construction of a 40–50 meter pier to accommodate cruise ships, alongside the installation of a fuel supply station for professional and private vessels. Authorities are also focusing on improving waste management systems to protect the marine environment. Additionally, a new unified canopy design for storefronts along the waterfront is being considered. A broader task force, including the Department of Fisheries and the Port Police, has been established to facilitate this development. Acting Mayor Angelos Onisiforou stated that the collaborative planning process aims to address long-standing functional issues.
