Funeral of iconic Greek actress Maro Kontou
Renowned Greek actress Maro Kontou passed away at the age of 92. Her funeral took place at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, followed by her burial at the First Cemetery of Athens. Parliamentary President Nikitas Kaklamanis, a close friend of the actress, delivered the eulogy. During the service, it was revealed that Kontou had been battling cancer for two years, having previously suffered a hip injury. The actress's family requested that donations be made to the Mitera Infant Center instead of flowers. Kontou had previously shared a final wish with Kaklamanis, asking that a glass of whiskey and a lit cigarette be placed at her seat during future gatherings of her friends.
