Financial Wellbeing Institute and Mastercard announce strategic partnership in Cyprus
On July 15, 2026, the Financial Wellbeing Institute (FWI) announced a strategic partnership with Mastercard to promote financial literacy across Cyprus. The initiative aims to support thousands of citizens, with a specific focus on 3,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 29. The program involves national educational outreach, public awareness campaigns, and the dissemination of research findings. According to the Financial Wellbeing Index 2025, the country's financial wellbeing score reached 54.6 points, showing improvement from the previous year. Despite this growth, data indicates that approximately 40 percent of the population remains financially vulnerable. Furthermore, 49.5 percent of Cypriots report that financial concerns cause them significant stress and anxiety. The partnership plans to implement three primary initiatives, including the publication of the index and the production of a podcast series titled Financial Wellbeing Talks to provide practical guidance for managing digital financial services.
