The Cyprus Olympic Committee has confirmed its national delegation for the 23rd Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, 2026. A total of 36 athletes will represent Cyprus across six sports, including athletics, judo, artistic gymnastics, swimming, weightlifting, and para-weightlifting. High jumper Elena Kulichenko, who placed seventh at the Paris 2024 Olympics, will carry the national flag at the opening ceremony at the Hydro Arena. Para-athlete Maria Markou will carry the official Cyprus baton, highlighting the integration of para-athletes into the unified national team. The Committee president, Georgios Chrysostomou, noted that three additional athlete spots were secured following a request to the organizers. The government is investing approximately 100,000 euros in this participation, supplemented by a 27,000 euro grant from the Commonwealth Sport Team Preparation programme. The delegation aims to showcase Cypriot athletic potential among more than 3,000 athletes from 74 participating nations.
