Cyprus delegation announced for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

The Cyprus Commonwealth Games Committee has officially presented its delegation for the 23rd Commonwealth Games, scheduled to take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, 2026. The event will feature over 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories. Cyprus will be represented by 36 athletes competing across six different sports. During a press conference at the Olympic House in Nicosia, Cyprus Olympic Committee President Georgios Chrysostomou announced that the committee successfully secured three additional participation spots following formal requests to the event organizers. The 2026 athletic calendar for Cypriot athletes is particularly demanding, as it also includes the European Championships from August 10-16 and the Mediterranean Games, where athletics competitions will run from August 30 to September 3. These multisport events are managed by national Olympic committees, with participant quotas determined by the International Olympic Committee and the host nation. The delegation represents an investment in local sports, acknowledging the efforts of coaches, federations, and support staff.
