28-year-old man arrested at Larnaca airport for drug trafficking

On July 6, 2026, a 28-year-old man was arrested at Larnaca Airport by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Customs Department following a tip-off. The suspect was found to be carrying cocaine inside his body. He was admitted to Larnaca General Hospital to safely expel the substances. He successfully expelled 110 packages weighing a total of 1.11 kilograms. After being discharged from the hospital, he appeared before the Larnaca District Court to face charges. The court ordered his detention until his next hearing, scheduled for October 5, 2026. The case has been referred to the Larnaca Criminal Court for trial.
