Memorial motorcycle tour commemorates 30 years since the deaths of Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomou
Members of the Isaac-Solomou Memorial Initiative launched a series of memorial motorcycle rides across Greece to honor the 30th anniversary of the deaths of Tasos Isaac and Solomos Solomou and to mark 52 years since the Turkish occupation of Cyprus. Starting July 9, 2026, the tour included stops in various locations, such as Ano Keryneia in Achaia, where a new square was named in honor of the pair, as well as Kythira, Leonidio, and Salamis. On July 12, the group arrived in Rhodes, where they visited the 1st Amphibious Raider Squadron and laid wreaths at the camp's altar to honor commandos involved in the 1974 Operation Niki. Additional wreath-laying ceremonies were held at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and the Monument of the Fatherland in Rhodes. The events in Rhodes were supported by the Cypriot Association of Rhodes, with speeches delivered by the Consul of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens, Christina Konstantouri, and association president Giorgos Symeonidis. The participants emphasized themes of historical continuity and the pursuit of justice for Cyprus. The initiative intends to keep the memory of the events of 1974 and 1996 alive for younger generations through these cross-regional commemorations.
