Authorities raid kiosk in Paphos and seize illegal nicotine products

On July 13, 2026, a coordinated operation led by the Paphos Customs Department, with the assistance of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit, local police, pharmaceutical services, and the Intellectual Property and Illegal Betting Unit, was carried out at a kiosk in Kato Paphos. During the inspection, officials discovered 377 packages of nicotine pouches lacking the necessary import and retail licenses for the Cypriot market. Additionally, it was determined that the owner did not possess the required license to sell legitimate industrial tobacco products found on the premises. The proprietor was arrested for customs offenses, and the illicit goods were confiscated. Following an investigation, the owner reached an out-of-court settlement by paying a fine of 3,100 euros. Furthermore, he provided written consent for the surrendered products to be destroyed according to established procedures.
