Father of missing Limassol man claims judicial interference prevented rehab
Alexandros Sophocleous, a 32-year-old man from Limassol, has been reported missing since July 13, 2026. His father claims that a criminal court judge blocked his son from entering the Ayia Skepi rehabilitation clinic, a decision he believes directly preceded his disappearance. The father stated that the family, along with psychologists and Athalassa hospital staff, had secured a spot for Sophocleous at the clinic, intended for admission following his June 15, 2026, court appearance. The father further alleges that he had previously sought intervention from Attorney General George Savvides in November 2025 and again via a family friend, though no action was taken. Police are currently searching for the missing man and have issued a public appeal for information. The father argues that the court's refusal to allow treatment contributed to his son's current situation. Criminal proceedings against the individual were associated with case number 14012/2019.
