Cyprus Water Development Department reports increased water consumption
The Water Development Department of Cyprus has reported that water consumption this year is higher compared to the same period last year. The department is urging citizens to adopt stricter water-saving measures and more rational usage habits to preserve the country's water resources. As part of its initiative, the department continues to distribute free water-saving equipment to households. Approximately 35% of the planned kits, which include tap aerators and shower flow restrictors, have been distributed to consumers to date. Officials state that this equipment can reduce individual water consumption by up to 30% if installed correctly. Citizens are encouraged to install these devices immediately and to remain vigilant about repairing leaks. Additionally, similar water-saving equipment is available for purchase at low costs in the local market. The department emphasizes that long-term sustainability depends on both the use of technical equipment and daily conservation habits.
