AEL Limassol signs Stefano Denswil and parts ways with Andreas Makris
AEL Limassol has officially announced the signing of Surinamese defender Stefano Denswil, who has signed a contract until 2029. The 32-year-old player, born in 1993, joins the club following his career experience in leagues including the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, and Turkey. Simultaneously, AEL Limassol confirmed the departure of captain Andreas Makris by mutual consent. Makris, who played over 100 official matches for the team and was part of the 2019 Cyprus Cup winning squad, recently received the 'Fair Captain' award for the 2024-2025 season. Reports indicate the termination of the contract occurred after Makris had been excluded from the plans of coach Hugo Martins for several weeks. While some sources identify Denswil as 32 and others as 33, official club communications confirm his birth date as May 7, 1993. The management stated that the club is focused on strengthening its defense for the upcoming season.
