Family of four involved in fatal traffic accident in Chalkidiki

On the afternoon of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, a fatal traffic accident occurred on the provincial road connecting Polygyros and Agios Nikolaos in Chalkidiki. A passenger car with Moldovan license plates, carrying a family of four, collided with a tanker truck around 18:20. Emergency services, including eight firefighters with three vehicles, were dispatched to the scene to perform a rescue operation. A woman and an infant died on the spot, while the father and a minor child were pulled from the wreckage with severe injuries. The father later succumbed to his injuries at the Chalkidiki hospital emergency department. The minor child remains hospitalized, while the driver of the tanker truck was reported to be in good health. Although some reports initially cited the Nea Moudania-Nikiti road as the location, authorities identified the site as the Polygyros-Agios Nikolaos provincial road near Metamorfosi. The Polygyros Traffic Department is currently investigating the exact circumstances of the collision.
